Record NCI Turnout for Tournament

I wish I could report we did better than the England boys and had some silverware to bring home but sadly we were outgunned by Peterborough and the Uni girls. Congratulations to Jane “I scored a Century at Lords wearing patterned pants” Allison and her team. It was actually a great final to watch and they gave us an excellent demonstration of how indoor cricket should be played. They beat Peterborough by one run.

However, I feel a round of applause is in order to NCI for turning out two teams. More evidence of DED! (Dedication Enthusiasm Determination) We out numbered the opposition if we didn’t beat them. It was a good chance for everyone to have a bat and bowl in a competitive situation and everyone did a good job. We won two out of our five NCI collective games.

Some good consistent bowling from Sam, Laura and Lois meant they all took wickets as did Beth who hasn’t bowled in a wee while. She also did some great drives but Erica shone with some walloping sixes - our top scoring batter. Labieba survived the bowling of Ferocious Freda with some solid batting. Louise batted herself into retirement after only the first few balls and later took pity on the Munchkins from March by easing up on the bowling pace. Margreta took to wicket keeping with great enthusiasm, competing with Naomi for commitment by diving around on the floor to stop the runs. Our fielding was exceptional – I believe we took the most wickets in a game when we played the Uni with some classic run-outs. So a lorra lorra laffs all round and thanks to everyone who turned out to play. Also thanks to our faithfull fellas Steve, Mattie and Richie for scoring, umpiring and day dreaming respectively.

Coaching
Monday 11th Dec is our last coaching session pre-Christmas. If anyone is around on Monday 18th and wants to continue we can have an extra session or just a game. Let me know what you want to do. 3 lanes is £25 for an hour. Coach on top. (If he’s willing. Ha ha!)

2007 Nets
Next year we start nets on Thursday nights 7-8pm for Ladies at Fenners. January 11th is the first session. The guys follow on 8-10pm and we can join them if we want. Their plan is to arrange coaching or skills training as and when they want it. They will not be paying for a coach but they will use the player/coaches in the club for free.

So my question is what do we want to do in our session? I personally think I would like some one-to-one coaching (Sunday showed I’ve got plenty to work on) but I am also happy with some group skills stuff as well. I will suss out who is available to offer some coaching on a free or paid basis and let you know the options. But do email me with suggestions.

Christmas Curry
All work and no play makes us seem like dull girls so Sam is organising our Annual Christmas Curry for Wednesday 13th Dec. She will be emailing you all but everyone is welcome – guys and gals.

AGM
Much was talked of at the AGM last Friday and you are welcome to read the minutes when we get them. My summary of key points as follows

I was voted back in as Ladies Captain (thank you – you fools!)
Louise Nitschke is my Vice Captain (congratulations and thanks)
Lois Clarke is our Welfare Officer (already got the job under control)
Richie is fourth team Captain (just getting the hang of it)
The committee is looking at a proposal to offer the ladies a reduced fee for matches (£8 is the norm). Subs have been proposed at £15.
Ideas for finding sponsors would be gratefully received. (I think we could do well at this so any ideas suggest them to Sam or me.) This would help subsidise or even pay for our match expenses.

See you all on Monday for the final (or not so final) coaching session!
